LOCKDOWN SONG 20: A-PUNK

SONG WRITTEN BY: VAMPIRE WEEKEND
DEDICATED TO: those of us who, on having symptoms, self-isolated for weeks and weeks. Those of us who have not seen parents or grandparents or children and grandchildren and to those of us who missed funerals or saying goodbye to loved ones.

As per our mission statement, our songs are joyful covers, but we've also felt quite furious today.

LOCKDOWN SONG 19: AND THE FLOOR BOUNCED

WRITTEN BY: LORNA REES PERFORMED BY: The Lockdown Band
TO PLAY AND THE FLOOR BOUNCED CLICK HERE
DEDICATED TO: Live music. Local gigs. Sweaty, bouncing crowds of people. We really miss it. No way we want to go if it's not safe. But sometime, somehow in the future - we can't wait to do it again. Thanks to Lighthouse Poole for commissioning us to write something too - we love doing covers but this was really fun.

There's more about the song on the Lighthouse website here:
https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/news/lockdown-song-sings-praises-of-legendary-bouncy-floor/

And thank you to the literally hundreds of people who helped us write it. I did a shout out on Facebook and SO many responded. It was great. And so then I put them into the song. Or the video. Or both.

LOCKDOWN SONG 18. STATISTICS SAVE LIVES

SONG WRITTEN BY: LOUISE JORDAN (for her new album Florence)
CLICK HERE TO WATCH STATISTICS SAVE LIVES

DEDICATED TO: Well, we're not really dedicating this one - apart from to Florence Nightingale of course. Florence is one of my heroes, and Louise Jordan (http://louisejordan.co.uk) is a songwriter and musician who lives near to us in the South West has written a new album about her to celebrate 200 years since her birth.

Of course, lockdown has meant that Louise can't perform her new work anywhere, but she did invite us to cover one of the tracks from her new album. So here's our wonky Lockdown Band version of Statistics Save Lives - which has more than a fair amount of relevance today.

LOCKDOWN SONG 17: HAPPY HOUR AGAIN

Song Written and Performed By: THE HOUSEMARTINS
CLICK HERE TO WATCH: HAPPY HOUR AGAIN DEDICATED TO: my best friend Sandie Campbell. Whose birthday it is today. And who I miss horribly. We’ll get to gave a happy hour again someday. Btw, the boys' beers were non-alcoholic....although ours were.

LOCKDOWN SONG 16: VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR

SONG WRITTEN BY: Trevor Horn, Bruce Woolley and Geoff Downes (made famous by The Buggles)
Click Here to Watch: VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR

DEDICATED TO: John Grindrod. Who has absolutely the best taste in music of anyone I know.
We’ve done some nice singing recently so we’ve completely thrown that all away and gone for high concept pop-art instead. This has EXTREMELY high production values, please note the attention to detail taken on props, costume and scenography (also, we couldn’t quite manage the fiddly instrumental part, so I’d very much just commend you to seek out the original here: Video Killed The Radio Star). Lighting was inspired by Libby Battaglia (who runs Light Up Poole) and who threw down the gauntlet of ‘specialist lighting design’ for us.  Do not point out to us the shambles this is musically. We know. It does represent a far better end to the week than the past few. We (our company is Gobbledegook Theatre) were successful in our Arts Council Application for Emergency F…

LOCKDOWN SONG 15: YOU MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE

SONG WRITTEN BY: HALL & OATES  CLICK HERE TO PLAY YOU MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUEDEDICATED TO: Heidi StellerandJoanne Tyler. Sadly we won’t be out with our beautiful show/installation Cloudscapes this year as because of the pandemic all our gigs have been cancelled... but we definitely hope to do some digitally audio enhanced cloud gazing with Cloudscapes at home this summer.

This one has a real Sunday vibe to it - I thought I should try channelling some mega masculine John Oates energy (although it’s all somehow just come out sunny and cheerful). It's a bit shambolic musically but it was nice singing it. We've had another weird week - but cloudgazing always helps.

LOCKDOWN SONG 14: WE'RE GOING TO BE FRIENDS
